Me
...about
Originally from the Netherlands, it was science that first brought Margaret Veldman-Jones to the UK. After completing an Art & Design foundation degree she was fortunate enough to be able to combine science with practising art from her home studio in Cheshire.

Although her work is mainly representational, Margaret continuously strives to push the boundaries between abstract and realism, trying not to let the work reveal itself in one glance. The incorporation of collage is often prominent and the vibrant use of colour, pattern and text has become characteristic of her work. Margaret does not restrict herself to any subject or style but merely keeps following the thread of her artistic journey.

Having developed a fondness for portraits, it is her work that supports (endangered) wildlife that gives her greatest fulfilment. As a result Margaret became an art ambassador for the charity Helping Rhinos featuring on their 2023 calendar. She has also been a finalist for five years running in the Sketch for Survival exhibition at the prestigious OXO gallery in London. Her rhino painting Ukoo was hand-picked by Gary Hodges and shortlisted for the 2025 Sketch for Survival 100 'Artist of the Year' award.

"Full of character, colour, fun and a huge dollop of imagination, this arresting artwork by Margaret Veldman-Jones screamed to be in the SFS 'chosen ones'."
- Gary Hodges, 2025 -

You can often find Margaret at a local art fair where she will showcase her latest work and loves to connect with the public.
