...about
Originally from the Netherlands, it was science that first brought Margaret Veldman-Jones to the UK. After completing an Art & Design foundation degree she was fortunate enough to be able to combine science with practising art from her home studio in Cheshire.
Stockport Open exhibition 2022
Although her work is mainly representational, Margaret continuously strives to push the boundaries between abstract and realism, trying not to let the work reveal itself in one glance. The incorporation of collage is often prominent and the vibrant use of colour, pattern and text has become characteristic of her work. Margaret does not restrict herself to any subject or style but merely keeps following the thread of her artistic journey.
Having developed a fondness for portraits, it is her work that supports (endangered) wildlife that gives her greatest fulfilment. As a result Margaret became an art ambassador for the charity Helping Rhinos featuring on their 2023 calendar. She has also been a finalist for four years running in the Sketch for Survival exhibition at the prestigious OXO gallery in London and Edinburgh. She will be exhibiting current work at the Cheshire Art Fair 2024, Macclesfield Town Hall.
